Miami-Dade County Memorializes 216 Men and Women Who Passed Away Homeless in 2022

December 16 Memorial Honors Jerome "Jerry" Price, Murdered while Experiencing Homelessness on the Streets of Miami -- a Reminder that Every Life Matters

Miami, FL – December 13, 2022 – On Friday, December 16, the Miami-Dade County community will commemorate Homeless Persons Memorial Day and reflect on the more than 200 homeless lives lost in 2022. This year’s event will include a special dedication by the family of Jerome Antonio Price. Price’s family will release doves in honor of their loved one and the other members of our community who passed while homeless. Price and Manuel Perez were murdered while experiencing homelessness in late 2021.

“Remembering those who died while homeless furthers our resolve to ensure no one sleeps in our streets,” said Ronald L. Book, chair of Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust. “I want to thank the Price family for putting a face on homelessness and helping us to remember not only their loved one, but all those who died in the past year.”

The program, hosted by the Homeless/Formerly Homeless Forum, Inc., Miami Homes for All and the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust, is part of National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day to bring attention to the tragedy of homelessness.
